For this project we had to create a unique design of a bench that followed certain criteria like dimension restrictions and no 90 degree corners. The point was to get us to create a functional bench that wasn't your traditional box shaped bench. My first step in this process was to find some models of different shaped benches for inspiration. I found 2 pictures and combined the two designs.
I then created a sketch of what I wanted my bench to look like. I sketched a front view as well as a side view.
I used Onshape a 3d printing software to make this sketch into a small model of the functioning bench. I started out by making the outlines like the sketches above. From there I cut out pieces and rounded out the corners and edges. Finally I Cut out a W on the back for Waunakee.
Final Product
From this project I got to get more comfortable and more familiar with Onshape. The only other 3d software I have used is inventor, we have used inventor since 8th grade so this was my second time using this software. The only other time I used this software was with my final project. I feel it's good to be able to use different software, and in general to be able to have multiple options or ways to do something incase you don't have access to your go-to option. Overall I enjoyed creating this bench design and learning to use Onshape.
